DUNKIN ‘TO CLOSE PERMANENTLY 800 US STORES IN 2020, 8% OF US RESTAURANTS

Members of Dunkin ‘Perks – the chain’s rewards program, which offers guests five points for every dollar they spend, redeemable for a free drink at 200 points – can enjoy their free medium hot coffee with every purchase during its’ Free Coffee Mondays’ during the month, the coffee shop announced in a recent blog post.

The promotion comes after a rocky year for retailers as the business models for brick-and-mortar become more difficult to take advantage of at the time of the coronavirus pandemic, with more people relying on delivery and transit. Dunkin ‘earlier announced that it is expected to permanently close 800 US branches by the end of 2020. The closures, many of which were in gas stations, accounted for 8% of the donut chain’s local restaurant footprint.
