Dunkin just made a play for millennials by adding avocado toast to his spring 2021 menu.

Foodies can buy avocado toast at all US establishments from today for $ 2.99 (plus tax) in the chain.

Dunkin ‘Avocado Toast contains a “creamy, mouth-watering avocado spread” made from avocado, sea salt, black pepper and lemon juice. The ingredients are spread on toasted sourdough bread and served with everything that tastes like bagel.

This release comes after a hectic 2020 for Dunkin ‘, which surpassed social media by launching successful collaborations (including one with TikTok star Charli D’Amelio) and marketing to Generation Z.

Yet Dunkin ‘is about five years late with the once colossal food trend.

People on Twitter weighed in on the latest Dunkin ‘menu item – and scratched jokes about millennials

After the news about avocado toast spread online, some users jumped on Twitter to share excitement and early reviews.

“It may be a controversial tweet, but the Dunkin ‘avocado toast was a 10/10 for me,” one person wrote.

Even those who were a little less excited about the flavors of the avocado spread agreed that it was good enough to order again.

But others were more reluctant to jump on the bandwagon.

“I want to meet those who are brave enough to order Dunkin’s new avocado toast,” tweeted a person.

Some who tried it did not think the scent was good at all, calling the lubrication “too lemon.” Others joked that the chain would try to exploit other stereotypical millennial food trends, like cutting boards.

Many took the opportunity to make jokes about millennials and avocado toast, which is often considered the favorite food of the generation.

“I got Dunkin Donuts Avocado toast, am I a millennial now?” asked one person.

More than one tweet refers to a 2017 quote by Tim Gurner, an Australian millionaire who suggested that millennials could not afford homes because they spend money on ‘broken avocados for $ 19’.

“broooo, dunkin donuts now have an avocado toast. As a millennial, I can absolutely forget about ever owning a home,” someone wrote.

The Washington Post reports that although avocado toast has always been popular in places like Mexico, Australia and California, one of the state’s recent iterations came from Cafe Gitane in New York.

Cafe Gitane became known as the ‘OG of avocado toast’, which has been on the menu since 2006, according to the Washington Post. Food blogs subsequently published recipes based on Cafe Gitane’s version, which added red pepper flakes.

But the brunch dish really became an online fix after Gwyneth Paltrow included a recipe with avocado toast in her 2013 cookbook, ‘It’s All Good,’ reports the Washington Post.

An analysis by Google Trends shows that searches for “avocado toast” are really starting to trend upwards in 2016. It is also named the best breakfast trend in 2017, according to a report by health tracking program MyFitnessPal.

Food bloggers started copying Paltrow’s recipe and creating their own versions to share on social media. Even Kylie Jenner shared a divisive sweet-and-spicy avocado toast recipe in September.
