The Chicago Bears have found their new defensive coordinator in Sean Desai, but they still have a few positions to fill, including Charles London’s replacement as full-back coach.
According to Adam Jahns of The Athletic and Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Bears’ interest shows that Duce Staley will join Matt Nagy’s coaching staff, where he will replace London as the fullback’s coach.
Staley currently serves as assistant coach at the Philadelphia Eagles, but Garafolo and NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark reported that he had been asked to get rid of his contract. This comes after Staley was transferred for a chance to interview the head coach, and he is now attracting interest from several teams, including the Bears and their NFC North rivals, Detroit Lions.
If the Bears Staley were to land, it would be a big hire for Nagy. Staley has served in various roles in the Eagles coaching staff over the past ten years, including two of those years with Nagy. He has been the Eagles’ rugby coach since 2013 and has served as an assistant coach for the past three years.
