Dubois trades rumors heated; Jets, Ducks, Habs between suitors

The Pierre-Luc Dubois trade rumors are red-hot, not long after John Tortorella’s high profile of the talented center. Several reports indicate that a Dubois trade could take place soon – possibly Saturday morning – and that the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets have been named as forerunners.

As always, things can change. There may be a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade earlier (perhaps in the early morning hours), it may continue, or things may fall apart.

Let’s talk about the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade rumors, such as Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, TSN’s Darren Dreger, en The Athletic / TSN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Blue Jackets apparently practiced Dubois trading; Summary of rumors

Dreger was among those who did the rounds on Friday Saturday morning a possible window for a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade. Unsurprisingly, it sounds like the Columbus Blue Jackets Dubois will make a healthy scratch – if he’s still on their roster.

Friedman uses the term ‘aggressive pursuit’ of a Dubois trade, which makes it sound even more likely.

Here are some details about the possible Dubois trading scenarios via Friedman:

Dubois – Laine Appears in Potential Blue Jackets – Jets Trade?

As you can see in this recent post, just before the collapse of a bank, a trade in Laine – Dubois will be an entertaining exchange of ‘problems’ and headlines.

Several anonymous sources told Friedman that Laine and Jack Roslovic, who are not currently signed by the Jets, told Friedman.

Many teams can be in the mix

Friedman also notes that the ducks are increasing their offer for Dubois, although the details are scarce. LeBrun adds that the Ducks have been in the Dubois mix for a long time.

Dreger reported during Friday’s appearance that certain teams had been notified that they were not trading.

Friedman reports that Nick Suzuki is not currently hanging in the Dubois trade talks with the Habs, but also notes that that could change. (To trade Suzuki, Montreal would be daring and controversial. Marc Bergevin happens to like these types of moves … but still it will be daring.)

It’s hard to know if there’s a real precursor between these Dubois trade rumors. There are, after all, a number of fascinating scenarios.

Laine – Dubois would be fascinating because they would not end the sagas, but only apply a twist and ‘To continue …’. Laine is only under contract for the 2020-21 season, while Dubois will only be locked up until 2021 22. It is plausible that Laine would not be so excited to stay at Columbus, and Dubois would possibly want to be from Winnipeg, according to schedule.

Prosecute …

PHT has also already speculated about Tortorella sticking out head on with Max Domi, a high defender, low defense. Just imagine Torts raging on Laine?

But it will also be very nice. Either way, it’s exciting. If you’re a fan of Blue Jackets, or are someone who hopes the Dubois trade rumors are finally dream come true for your team, this can be nerve-wracking.

Good luck with the right notes, Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen.
