PLANO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) A driver died after a speeding accident on the northern Dallas Parkway between Park and Parker in Plano on Monday morning, January 4th.
According to Plano police, Heather Alayne Hawkins, 33, of Rowlett, left the highway “at a high speed, lost control and hit a tree” around 7:20 p.m.
Witnesses said she was moving across traffic lanes.
The driver was taken out of the vehicle by Plano Fire-Rescue staff and rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Speed is a factor in this accident and drunkenness is suspected with toxicological reports pending, police said.

Police closed the exit to Parker Road during the investigation and removal of the vehicle.
