Dream scenario for Clemson WR Amari Rodgers: Second round to Packers

Aaron Rodgers to Amari Rodgers?

The Clemson-wide receiver and draft prospect in 2021 said that being drafted by the Packers and ending up with the NFL MVP in Green Bay would be his dream draft scenario.

“I’m going to say a second round for the Packers,” Rodgers said when asked by former NFL receiver Brandon Marshall at the 2021 House of Athlete Scouting Combine Showcase.

Rodgers, who played with 181 catches for 2,144 yards and 15 runs during 55 career games at Clemson, noted the accuracy of the Packers full-back as the main reason for wanting to finish in Green Bay. He also said that his relentless commitment to getting on the same page as his quarterback during practice – and noting the path Rodgers and Davante Adams took to become one of the NFL’s best quarterback receiver combinations that would make him fit for the Packers.

“I feel like I can go in there and fit in right away,” Rodgers said.

The Packers enter the off-season with a need at the receiver. Rodgers, who operates in different ways in the Clemson offense, could be the ideal player to do everything Coach Matt LaFleur needs from a groove receiver and gadget weapon in his offense.

Rodgers pointed to Steve Smith and Jarvis Landry as receivers after which he looked up during his collegiate career or modeled his game. In Green Bay, he could be a similar player to Randall Cobb.

The Draft Network believes Rodgers has a chance to be a ‘featured slot receiver’ at the next level.

From his profile: “He has reliable hands, plays a physical football mark and is a good athlete.”

What does Rodgers hear about his draft inventory? “The second to third rounds at the moment,” Rodgers said, though he is confident he can improve his status with a strong workout on Clemson’s pro day.

The Packers hold the 62nd pick in the second round of the 2021 draft. Ten years ago, the Packers used the 64th overall pick on Cobb, which gave Rodgers one of the best closing arms in football.
