Dr Marty Makary condemns people ‘getting in line’ to get coronavirus vaccine

“There is a lot of cutting to get the coronavirus vaccine in the early weeks of nationwide spread,” said Dr. Fox News medical contributor Marty Makary told America’s News HQ on Friday.

“Ironically, after all the conversations about Black Lives Matter, we’re here with people who put themselves in – people with access, people with wealth, people with connections to the local facilities, and they basically say that their lives matter more and I think it’s completely inappropriate, “said Makary, who accused the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of being” too slow “to explain who should have access to the vaccine.

“It should go to individuals at the greatest risk after it goes to nursing homes and front-line health workers, not all health workers,” he said. “I promised not to take the vaccine with many health professionals until every high-risk American had the opportunity to get it first.”

According to Makary, the CDC’s recommendation that “healthcare professionals” be given priority to the vaccine has led to cosmetic surgeons, members of the hospital board and spouses of health workers getting the shot “inappropriate”.

The Fox News medical associate also questioned the decision by some states to “keep 50% of the vaccine stock so people can be sure of getting a second dose.”

“I think it was a mistake,” he said. “The strategy had to hand it out to as many people as possible.”

Makary noted that almost 5% of the British population has already been vaccinated, while not even 1% of the American population has been vaccinated.
