As we enter the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing attention is being paid to how to deal with the aftermath of the virus, and more and more survivors are experiencing what has become known as ‘long COVID’. These are patients whose symptoms persist long after the infection has left their system but still ruin their health. The topic of long COVID came up this week when Anthony Fauci, White House Managing Director, White House COVID Advisor, spoke to the Duke Global Health Institute on February 10th. David Rubenstein, former chairman of the Duke University Board of Trustees. “We study it intensively with cohort studies because a certain percentage of people with symptomatic illnesses, whether they are hospitalized or not, have long-term symptoms for varying periods.”
According to Fauci, certain symptoms can still be a ‘problem’ after the virus has been removed from the body. So they are no longer infected, but they have a constellation of signs and symptoms that are fairly consistent. ‘ Read on to find out what Fauci identified as the main symptoms of post-COVID syndrome, and if you are over 65, you may be sick by now. Look if you are over 65, you may be missing this COVID symptom, study says.

Fauci cites extreme fatigue as the first of the most common long COVID symptoms. In a survey by Survivor Corps – a Facebook group of COVID-19 survivors – led by Natalie Lambert, MD, associate professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine, researchers with more than 1,500 long-term careers talked about their symptoms to determine the 98 most common. According to their findings, 100 percent of the respondents felt tired. And for more information on your long-term risk, see if you do not have this thing, you run a greater risk of long COVID.

Fauci also described muscle aches as a common symptom that may persist, consistent with what was reported in the Survivor Corps survey. Muscle pain was the second most common effect where long haul was reported, and nearly 67 percent experienced the symptom. And for more information on where you can expect pain, see why Ellen DeGeneres says it’s the “one thing they do not tell you” about COVID.

Disturbed sleep is also a common symptom of PACS, Fauci said. According to the Survivor Corp survey, 50 percent of long-term feeders struggle to keep an eye out. Fauci said that PACS patients also usually suffer from problems “where they feel cold or that they do not regulate the temperature properly.” Although it was not a symptom followed by the Survivors Corp survey, 29 percent of patients said they had a fever or chills long after recovering from the virus. Among the long-distance respondents surveyed in the Survivors Corp report, 59 percent said they have difficulty concentrating.
