WASHINGTON – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Centers are meeting this Friday to discuss the outbreak in Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, and the top US infectious disease expert said he would be very surprised if we did in Friday some resumption. ”

Dr Anthony Fauci said on Sunday that a decision would be made by Friday. I do not really expect them to want to stretch it any longer. ”

Fauci tells CBS’s “Face the Nation” that one possibility would be to bring back the one-and-done shots “with some form of restriction or some warning … I believe by Friday the answer to that will know. ‘

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is in turmoil in the US after federal health advisers said last week that they needed more evidence to decide whether a handful of unusual blood clots were linked to the shot – and if so, how big the risk was.

The reports are rare – six cases out of more than 7 million vaccinations with the J&J vaccine in the United States. The blood clots were found in six women between the ages of 18 and 48. One person is dead.

Fauci told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “I seriously doubt they are just canceling it. I do not think it will happen.”
