Tom Brady was not the only player whose departure from New England caused the Patriots’ first losing season in two decades. The Patriots also selected more players from the 2020 season than any other team in the league.

The good news is, that means the Patriots are getting some key players back.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Dont’a Hightower, safety Patrick Chung and offensive tackle Marcus Cannon are planning for Patriots for the 2021 season. Everyone is healthy and ready to go back to work.

In addition to getting their opt-outs back, the Patriots are also close to the top of the league in available salary ceilings. They should therefore be able to add some more important players in the free agency.

There are many reasons to think that the Patriots could be better in 2021 than in 2020. As long as they can find a quarterback.
