Donald Trump’s Palm Beach club, Mar-a-Lago, has been partially shut down due to an outbreak in Covid.
Several people familiar with the situation, including a club member who received a call on Friday about the closure, confirmed the partial closure to Associated Press.
A source familiar with club activities said some workers had been quarantined “out of caution” and that a section of the club had been closed for a short time, according to Reuters.
A receptionist at the Mar-a-Lago club confirmed the news, saying it was closed until further notice, but declined to comment further.
A person familiar with club operations said the club had partially closed a section ‘for a short time’ out of an abundance of caution and placed some of its workers in quarantine. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the situation by name.
The extent of the outbreak, which sections of the club were closed or how it affected the former first family, was not immediately clear.
The former president moved to Mar-a-Lago after leaving Washington in January, and has spent the week since lying low, playing golf, eating with friends, meeting with Republican party leaders and planning his political future as he considers it to present again in 2024.
Trump’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Trump was hospitalized at Covid last fall and has since been vaccinated against the virus. His wife, Melania and son Barron, also tested positive.
Mar-a-Lago was the site of its first known exposure more than a year ago. A senior Brazilian official tested positive last year after spending time at the club, where he posed for a photo next to Trump and attended a family birthday party.
The Trump White House was hit with several subsequent outbreaks after it violated viruses by resisting wearing masks and holding big events.
