Don Sutton walks away – MLB Trade Rumors

Baseball Hall of Famer Don Sutton dies, his son Daron announced Tuesday. The former right-hander of the major leagues was 75 years old.

Sutton had a long career with the Dodgers, Angels, Brewers, Astros and Athletics from 1966-88. Most of his time in the majors (16 years) he spent with the Dodgers, with whom he scored 233 of his 324 wins in the regular season. The Dodgers retired Sutton’s number in 1998.

Sutton tied with fellow legend Nolan Ryan for 14th place in wins and finished seventh in the innings (5,282), with more than 200 frames in a whopping 19 seasons. The workload never seems to have a negative effect on Sutton, as he ended his career with an ERA of 3.26 and is currently finishing seventh in the outing with 3,574. Sutton also earned four All-Star berths during his time in the big.

After finishing playing, Sutton spent time with the Dodgers, Braves and Nationals in the broadcast standings. Sutton’s longest time as a commentator was with the Braves, who placed him in their 2015 Hall of Fame.

MLBTR mourns the loss of a baseball major and sends our condolences to Sutton’s family and fans.
