Domestic violence in Taylorsville suspects in custody after hours of SWAT strike

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – A suspect is in custody Saturday night after an argument with SWAT in Taylorsville that lasted more than four hours.

Police were called to the home near 5350 S. Queenswood (about 3600 West) at about 4:15 p.m., on reports of a domestic violence incident between a father and son.

When officers arrived there, they found the father injured and he was taken to a hospital. The severity of his injuries is not known.

According to police, the situation escalated, and the boy barricaded himself inside the house. SWAT was called in and the boy shot at them from inside.

Police have fired back, but it is not yet known if the suspect was hit.

At the scene, bullet holes were visible on the garage doors of at least one nearby house.

Around 20:00, tear gas was deployed. Police were also heard using a megaphone ordering the suspect to surrender and leave the house.

Just before 10pm, Unified Police announced that the suspect had been arrested.

His name, age or any other identifying details were not disclosed.
