Dolly Parton recalls a heartwarming story of how her father secretly cleaned up her hometown image

Dolly Parton has just shared a wholesome father-daughter story that will definitely warm the fans’ hearts.

The nine-time Grammy-winning artist recently opened up about her education on Apple Fitness +’s “Time to Walk” experience, which premiered Monday. In the “Time to Walk” section, Parton shares songs and stories to accompany listeners during their walks in Apple’s latest effort to encourage physical activity among their users.

A particular story the singer told was a story of how her father, Robert Parton, reacted to the news that a statue was being erected in honor of his famous daughter – and what he did in secret.

“I remember being so proud of that statue … I thought ‘A statue of me in court? It’s usually reserved for presidents and people who have done such wonderful things,'” Parton remarked, according to the magazine. People.

She continued: ‘I then went home and said:’ Dad you knew, they put down a statue of me … in court? “Daddy said, ‘Well, I heard that.’ He said: ‘Now to your followers out there you may be an idol. But to their pigeons you are nothing but another outside room. ‘ ‘

Parton later revealed that her father would clean the statue at night with a bucket of soapy water in the back of his pickup – without anyone knowing.

“It touched me like that,” Parton recalls. “I loved my dad and wanted him to be proud of himself because I was proud of him.”

During the episode, Parton noticed that she felt like she ‘had [her] work ethic of [her] father, ‘who was a participant who eventually grew tobacco to support his family in difficult times.

The singer “Here You Come Again” recently celebrated her 75th birthday last Tuesday, but two days later her tragedy was met with the death of her brother, Randy Parton.

The news of Randy’s passing comes just a few years after their other brother Floyd Estel Parton passed away in 2018.
