Dolly Parton has a secret song locked up in Dollywood

Dolly Parton has provided the world with iconic songs like ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’, but fans will have to wait until 2045 to listen to the country star’s ‘secret song’.

The 74-year-old apparently reveals in her new book “Songteller: My Life in Lyrics” that she locked up an unreleased, unheard of track in the DreamMore Resort of Dollywood.

The idea for the surprise comes from her team as a marketing project. The song was presumably sealed in a chestnut wooden case (built by her uncle) in a glass display case.

“It would be a song that would never be heard until 30 years from the opening of the resort. They said, ‘You will be dead a long time ago,'” Parton wrote according to Taste of Country. “I said, ‘Well, maybe not. I’m going to be 99. I’ve seen people get older than that.”

“It’s like burying one of my kids, sitting on ice or something, and I will not be there to see it come alive again,” the songwriter described. “It just burns me inside that I have to leave it there.”

Parton revealed that the mystery song was recorded on a CD and that there was also a CD player inside his chest … just in case.

“It’s weird or weird anyway that they would ask me to write this secret song,” she recalls. “I do not know if I want to be 100 or not. But you never know. I can, and if I do, I’m going to be at the opening.”

Dollywood opened in 1986 in East Tennessee. The theme park features rides, memorabilia, theaters and a water park and is one of Parton’s most proud achievements.
