Dollar General confirmed on his website that he is still in talks with the CDC “about ways the company can support the country’s COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts.”

With more than 16,700 establishments across the country, the company believes it is “well positioned to help with these efforts.”

In fact, about 75% of its stores are within five miles of communities with no more than 20,000 residents.

Rural areas face greater challenges with vaccination vaccines due to a lack of proper supplies and medical professions compared to large cities across the country.

Walmart, which has already partnered with the federal government to administer vaccines, said for example that it has nearly 4,000 Walmart sites “within one or more of the federally designated medically underserved areas” and plans to serve these communities through COVID -19 vaccination events.

Dollar General has not provided specific details about these efforts, but will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
