Dog saves another dog from drowning in pool

This is a good boy.

The family’s beloved pet dog nearly drowned after falling into a pool in the backyard when the owners were not home. Luckily there was another dog who spotted the problem and saved the day.

The incident happened at a house in Boksburg City in South Africa, reports Southwest News Service (SWNS). Byron Thanarayen, the owner of the pets, told the news office that he and his wife were initially confused when they returned home and found the dogs wet.

“We were trying to find clues as to where he could wet his head,” he told SWNS. “We thought he might have dipped his head in the water, but there was no mess in the house to support this proposal.”

The family decided to check their security cameras when they discovered that the smaller dog, Chuky, had fallen into the pool. Luckily, the larger dog, Jessie, was nearby and he worked to lift Chucky to safety.

“It was sad to watch,” Thanarayen said. “We’re still struggling to watch that video today, just thinking about what could have happened if Jessie had not been there.”

It took Jessie 34 minutes to successfully lift Chucky out of the pool. Apparently the smaller dog’s wet fur kept causing it to fall out of Jessie’s mouth.

Thanarayen continues: “I’m really proud of her since she’s the youngest. Our dogs know how to swim, but they always swim with us and not when we’re not with them.”

Since this incident occurred, the family has said they are installing a fence around the pool.
