An empathetic British pooch has melted hearts online after mimicking his injured owner’s sluggishness in apparent solidarity.

“Nothing wrong, just sympathy,” Russell Jones wrote in a Facebook video of the heartwarming show, which currently boasts 27,000 shares.

Indeed, the twelve-second clip shows the London resident walking on crutches with a bandaged leg while his dog Bill jumps next to him with his paw hoisted.

Jones initially thought something was wrong and wrote that he had spent more than $ 400 on ‘vet fees and X-rays’, only to discover that his pet was in the air. Needless to say, the compassionate pantomime elicited an outpouring of support on Facebook.

Others, however, felt that Jones was unfairly anthropomorphizing a pet that was clearly injured.

“[You] need to change your vet! says one skeptic about Bill’s course. “Of course something is wrong.”

Cinical animal behaviorist Rosie Bescoby seconded their sentiment.

“I would have suggested that the owner seek a second opinion from another veterinarian,” she told the Daily Mail. “And there are many things that will not appear on an x-ray, which can cause even as little as a thorn in the foot.”
