One of the most famous and distinct Dominican gastroenterologists. Birth in Santo Domingo in June 1952. Received his doctorate and medicine degree at the Santo Domingo Autonomous University, UASD, in 1976. Study of his patient, internal medicine study course at the Padre Billini Hospital of Santo Domingo . In 1978, he was transferred to the City of London in the United Kingdom and completed internal medical studies at Hammersmith Hospital, in the period 1978 to 1979, to be transferred to St. The Mary’s Hospital was in 1981. In 1981 the West Middlesex Hospital was completed in 1983 and the 1983 study and medical interna, cursó gastroenterology and hepatology and the Royal Free Hospital, como research fellow and the assistant of the professors Sheila Sherlock and Roy Pounder. Both professors meet internationally in the campus of gastroenterology and the study of the nurses of hygiene, which Dr. Santana has one of the first Dominicans to train in this subspecialty. Formally in 1981 he graduated in History of Medicine. In 2002, he completed a diploma in Health and Hospital Management. During his years in London he served as a diplomat at the Dominican Embassy in London and in 2005 he was promoted to the rank of Ambassador under the auspices of the Ministry of External Relations.

Since its regression in the country in 1986, there have been more than 50 Charles in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Guatemala, San Salvador, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Uruguay, Marruecos, Poland, Ireland, Italy. Maintains active participation throughout the years in: American Congress of Gastroenterology (AGA), Pan-American Congress of Gastroenterology, Central American Congress of Gastroenterology and World Congress of Gastroenterology, World Congress of Europe and Hepatology.
Currently professing the profession at the Advanced Medical Center Dr. Abel González, is also the Medical Director of the Helicobacter Pillary Diagnostic Center. It is also the Medical Assessor of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic and the Dominican Popular Bank. Active member and past president of the Rotario Club Arroyo Hondo, member of the Dominican Society of History of Medicine.
Doctor Santana is an important asset of the Dominican society, not only because of his professional care for his great human quality.
