If you haven’t noticed yet, Bitcoin has a little moment. The value of the cryptocurrency has been reached record highs in recent weeks you will soon be able to buy a Tesla with it, and from Friday you can now spend Bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) via Apple Pay.

BitPay, a popular cryptocurrency payment processing service, has announced that its prepaid Mastercard users in the US can now pair their card with Apple Wallet and use bitcoin to fund their online shopping, wherever Apple Pay is accepted worldwide. You can add your BitPay card to Apple Wallet via the BitPay Wallet app (you need the latest version), which supports a series of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ether, Twin Dollar, USD Coin, Paxos Standard and Binance USD.

The company plans to expand support for Google Pay and Samsung Pay by the end of March, CNET report.

“We have thousands of BitPay Wallet app customers using the BitPay card,” Stephen Pair, CEO of BitPay, said in a statement to the store. “The addition of Apple Pay and soon Google and Samsung Pay will make it easy and convenient to use the BitPay card in more places.”

The news that Apple Pay will now integrate some bitcoin payments follows a analysis released earlier this week, Apple, whose virtual payment service is already used by millions, could generate up to $ 40 billion a year by going into the cryptocurrency industry, according to Canadian brokerage firm RBC Capital Markets.

Financial experts are divided over whether bitcoin’s recent windfall will continue or whether it will just too expensive speculation, but regardless Apple seems unlikely to jump on the hype bandwagon.
