In the ‘not shocking, yet welcome’ news of today, MSI’s range of gaming computers are now available with Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. These include the price-conscious RTX 3060 Ti, the powerful RTX 3070, the impressive RTX 3080 and the best possible best RTX 3090.
These graphics cards are available in MSI’s Trident, Infinite, Aeis and Codex gaming computer lines, so in theory there’s a 30 series system to suit every price range. (As long as your price range is ‘at least $ 1400’ anyway.)
This information comes from a press release from MSI: GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs are available in MSI gaming computers from today. These GPUs support both high-resolution games and fine lighting effects, such as ray tracing. By incorporating these graphics cards into all four of its desktop lines, MSI hopes to offer something for both ‘money is no object’ power players and more discreet, budget-oriented fans.
“There have been some challenges in including the Ampere 30 series of graphics cards in our pre-built computers,” Cliff Chun, an MSI product manager, told Tom’s Guide. One was to fit the GPU into the smaller chassis of the company. “Since our Trident series consists of small form factor gaming computers, and is the larger size of the RTX 30 series cards, we had to change the chassis a bit to accommodate it.”
Chun also cited thermal drainage and increased power consumption as challenges associated with installing RTX 30 series cards on four separate computer lines. But the process apparently worked, as some of the 30 equipment currently equipped is currently available, while others are available to pre-order.
Although it would take too long to document every available MSI desktop version, you can check it yourself by going to the MSI website and then selecting “Products”, “Desktops” and your line.
Which RTX 30 Series Computers Can You Buy?
The cheapest model I found was an MSI Codex R gaming computer at Best Buy for $ 1,399. It contains a GeForce RTX 3070 GPU, as well as an Intel i5-10400F CPU, 16 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 1 TB HDD, as well as a mouse and a keyboard. Whether the machine itself is worth the price is hard to say because we did not test it. But at least it looks like a fair amount, considering the parts you get.
Unfortunately, this computer is currently sold out, but it’s worth checking to see if stock returns.
More expensive models were actually a bit more difficult to find, as MSI’s website actually links to older or less powerful cards, even if you select the “3090” option in its computer search. The Aegis R on Best Buy is $ 3,999 and features an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, with an Intel Core i9-10900K CPU, 32GB RAM, a 2TB SSD and again a mouse and keyboard. However, this model is currently out of stock.
Anyway, if you’ve desperately trying to locate an Nvidia RTX 30 Series card and not mind buying a pre-built machine, MSI’s offerings look as good as any. Building a similar system yourself will of course be cheaper, but you will also have to wait for the stock to stabilize.
