Do you have to eat inside a restaurant? Only if you do, says dr. Fauci

Dr Anthony Fauci recently explained how to eat safely inside a restaurant during the new coronavirus pandemic.

What is happening?

Fauci told CNN on Tuesday night that people should be careful about eating in a restaurant during the pandemic. But, he said, it can be done if it is ‘done carefully’.

  • “When you eat indoors, you do it in a spacious place where you do not sit right next to each other,” he told CNN on Tuesday night.
  • He said ‘good airflow’ is important. And, he said, you want to avoid being in places where you inhale others’ breath.

Fauci told CNN he was aware of the economic problems facing restaurants due to the coronavirus pandemic.

  • ‘You know, people sometimes think that public health officials do not heed the economic considerations. Not at all – I mean, we are very empathetic about it, “said Fauci. “But we still have to maintain public health measures if we are to get this outbreak in our arms.”

Study about eating in restaurants

A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in September, which found that eating out at a restaurant is more dangerous than other activities.

  • The study found that those who tested positive for COVID-19 were twice as likely as those who tested negative said they went to a restaurant before being infected, as I wrote about Deseret News.
  • The CDC defined a restaurant as “any area designated by the restaurant, including indoor, patio and outdoor seating.”

“Findings from a case-control study of symptomatic outpatients from 11 U.S. health care facilities found that close contact with people with a known COVID-19 or to places that offer eating and drinking options on site is related to COVID-19 positivity.”
