The Chamber of Representatives presented on March, an information on the interpellations to the secretaries designated by Health and Education, Carlos Mellado López and Elba Aponte Santos, respectively, in which it is recommended to follow the designation of the title of Education.
“Finally, we recommend the doctor Mellado López, who in addition to the Chamber and the Senate, as well as the same dependencies of the Legislative Assembly, will work to increase the protocols in front of COVID-19 to benefit the health of all”, said the representative Sol Higgins who chaired the Health Committee, at a press conference.
For his part, the President of the Education Commission, Deborah Soto, recommended to Senado that Aponte Santos not be confirmed as Secretary of Education.
The recommendation:
“The information, it is important that we apologize for, concludes that the designated secretary Elba Aponte Santos was evasive at the time of contesting questions from the representatives. We do not present a concrete plan for the repatriation of schools, we do not have a protocol to manage the COVID-19 in the school plants and did not explain it to the Chamber of Representatives in the country, we will guarantee a sound environment for our young and old ”, dij Soto.
“Through all of the foregoing and its questionable conduct, there are other assistants in the Department of Education, we conclude in this notice, that the designated Elba Aponte Santos is not prepared to own its functions as Secretary of the Department of Education,” he added.
“I would like to say that we do not meet the qualities that are necessary to lead the Department of Education at the moment as they are”, sentence.
Explained that the recommendation of the Chamber of Deputies should be repealed by the school repertoire by August 2021 and that a “comprehensive plan” for school repairs be prepared and that the COVID-19 protocols be issued.
