Disneyland ticket sales, bookings see a waiting time of 9 hours before reopening

Disneyland fans have been waiting more than a year for the park to open, and some had to wait even longer when ticket sales went into effect Thursday.

People waited up to nine hours to make reservations for the California theme park, and some tried to book from multiple computer screens before reopening on April 30 after the park made its ticket sales and reservation system available Thursday morning.

Some eager park goers woke up before ticket sales went into effect at 8 a.m. PST, while some were already ready for reservations by 6 p.m. And although someone could start booking on Thursday, the theme parks in Anaheim will initially only be open to California residents. And it did not take long before users started complaining about extraordinarily long waiting times on social media.

“We have not even bought the tickets yet and I am already standing in line,” one user tweeted in the park on Thursday.

Another user said they waited nine hours to get tickets: “I finally got my Disneyland tickets and reservations … 9 hours later,” the person tweeted.

Disneyland warned customers on the long wait times, saying, “Because of the huge demand, it’s taking longer than we expected,” on the discussion website.

Of course, users did not take long to turn Disney’s virtual rope screen into memes, with one tweeting a poison out of Pinocchio’s nose that grew with the caption “Disneyland now:” The wait is almost over. “

The tourist attraction has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The park will reopen with a number of new health and safety standards, including temperature screens for access to some resorts, face masks for guests two years and older and social distance. In addition, Disney’s Avengers campus, the new superhero-inspired attraction, will open on June 4 at Disney California Adventure Park.
