Disneyland Resort: Coronavirus Vaccine Super Site Closes In Anaheim

ANAHEIM, California (KABC) – A planned temporary closure of the COVID-19 vaccination center at Disneyland began Thursday, the Orange County Health Agency said.

Orange County CEO Frank Kim said the closure would give workers time to reconfigure the tents at Anaheim Place. A portion of the premises in the Toy Story parking lot will be converted into a driveway for people with disabilities.

Once the conversion is complete, the super-POD, or point of delivery, will ‘be able to serve individuals and disabilities with appointments with appropriate vehicle posters or badges,’ the Health Agency said on Twitter.

Recent weather-related site closures have also been a major factor in the conversion.

The site, which is managed by the province, will reopen on Monday.

Meanwhile, California will begin setting aside 40% of all vaccine doses for people living in the most vulnerable neighborhoods, in an effort to vaccinate the most at-risk people through the coronavirus and speed up the state’s economy.

The doses will be distributed among 400 postcodes, with about 8 million people eligible for shots, Dr. Mark Ghaly, the state’s health secretary, said. Many of the neighborhoods are concentrated in Los Angeles County and the Central Valley, which had the highest infection rates. The areas are considered the most vulnerable on the basis of criteria such as household income, education level, housing status and access to transport.
