Disney World removes “FastPass +” from sign of attraction

When Walt Disney World reopened its theme parks to the public in mid-July 2020, several changes were implemented, including the elimination of FastPass +. It has been indicated that this would be a temporary suspension of FastPass + for the time being due to the pandemic. A few months after the theme parks reopened last summer, the service is yet to return.

Currently, the official Disney World website announces the following regarding FastPass +:

FastPass + choices

Due to the COVID-19 impact on operations, the FastPass + service is temporarily suspended. FastPass + service is not offered with the purchase of tickets or year tickets. We will share future updates later.

Currently, Disney has not said when FastPass + will return to the theme parks; However, on a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, park ranger Mitchell Lancaster notes that the FastPass + sign at Space Mountain looks a little different.

In fact, the FastPass + wording has been completely removed from the board! In this rope board, ‘FastPass + Entrance’ used to be read in large white letters (which you can see in the picture above), but now the board is completely empty (which you can see in the picture below):

At the time of publication, Disney World gave no indication that FastPass + was gone forever, and as mentioned, the official Walt Disney World website still indicates that the service has been suspended.

This Space Mountain sign may be an indication that Disney is planning to change the FastPass + for Space Mountain (or in general), but it could also just be a regular maintenance job that Disney World workers can perform. Maybe they even plan to take advantage of the FastPass + drive space for the usual assistive drive. Or they may be performing maintenance on the FastPass + board to get it tip-top before returning to the Disney World theme parks. All of this, however, is speculation, and for now we just know that some guests may get a little entangled about the current moves!

In California, Disneyland also has a FASTPASS system, which will also be temporarily suspended once the theme parks reopen to West Coast Guests.
