The large palm tree at the entrance to the Jungle Cruise was also a gift for his grandparents, who got married in the 1890s.

From July 1955, at the age of 20, Dominguez took a summer job at the Anaheim amusement park as a ticket holder, before being promoted to ‘temporary supervisor of Main Street USA’ within a year.

During his career, he held various supervisory positions throughout the park until he took on the role of director of operations in 1970.

In 1974, the businessman became vice president of Disneyland, and in 1990 earned the title of executive vice president, Walt Disney Attractions for the West Coast.

“He retired from The Walt Disney Company after 39 years in 1994,” according to Deadline.

In 2000, Dominguez was inducted as a Disney legend and donated a window in Main Street.

Receiving a ‘window is an important honor’, according to Scott Fleener, who is one of the first to be notified of Dominguez’s departure on Friday.

“This is given to someone who has made a great contribution to what the resort is today,” the president of the Order of the Red Handkerchief told the Orange County Register.

Fleener also revealed his friend was the past six weeks in a hospital after a fall in which he broke his hip.

“It was very sad to see him so fragile, especially because he was so lively,” Fleener recalled, noting that Dominguez recently shared a fun trivia about Disneyland during a luncheon in October.

Dominguez is survived by his 41-year-old wife, Betty, whom he met at Disneyland.
