Ten months after Disneyland closes its doors due to COIVD, Disney Parks is suddenly announced that they end their annual passport program and repay the existing customers. A replacement of the popular unlimited pass has been promised, but it is unlikely to be offered until the pandemic recedes.

Premier Passport, another type of annual pass that gives access to parks on both coasts, is also canceled, per WDW News Day, a news site focused on Disney Parks. Outstanding Premier Passports will remain active until 31 March 2021 for still open Walt Disney World theme parks and benefits, after which it will be canceled. All annual passes valid on March 14, 2020 will be eligible for a pro rata refund for the unused Disneyland portion of their pass, details of which are on this Disneyland website.

More than a million people use the multi-tiered annual pass, which offers exclusive benefits such as hourly travel times, special events, movie suggestions and discounts. The end of the program shocked loyal fans, especially those in California, where the two theme parks – Disneyland and Disney California Adventure – have become a viable daily or weekly hangout for residents. Very expressed their shock and dismay on social media.

However, some benefits still remain. Disneyland also announced that from March 14, 2020, passengers with active passes can still receive discounts on goods, food and beverages at open spaces in downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street. There is also a 30% discount on select merchandise from certain stores, from Mondays to Thursdays until February 25, according to the Los Angeles Times.

When a new annual fitting program can be offered again or will have the same benefits remains uncertain. The theme parks in California can only reopen once the COVID transmission speed is minimal, and then the park’s capacity will be limited to 25% and reservations will probably be required. Meanwhile, Disneyland’s dormant parking lots will be put to good use – like Orange County first massive vaccination site.
