The upcoming Ahsoka Tano series from Disney + will likely feature the return of a favorite character from Clone Wars and Rebels.
There’s a good chance fans will finally see Captain Rex’s live debut in the upcoming Disney + Ahsoka series.
During a Kessel Run Transmission video, host Corey Van Dyke speculated that among the many screen tests performed during The Mandalorian Season 2, which includes Temuera Morrison as Rex. According to him, ‘our sources said that they saw the armor [of Captain Rex]. So I think if that is the case, there was probably [a] screen test for Rex for the Ahsoka series. Rex will be part of the Rebel persecuted, so if they transfer it to the Ahsoka series, he will be in it. ‘

Morrison was finally brought out in season 2 as Boba Fett, making his official debut as live action as the famed bounty hunter outside the voices. However, given his history with playing Commander Cody and all the Clone Troopers in the prequel trilogy, there’s still a chance for Morrison to play Rex. “They’re not done with Rex,” Van Dyke continued. “I heard that Lucasfilm is very interested in continuing his story.”
Unlike Cody, who appeared during live action Revenge of the Sith, Captain Rex for the first time in The clone wars animated film with Ahsoka Tano, voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. Despite not seeing each other face to face at first, Rex and Ahsoka gradually formed a camaraderie and friendship through numerous battles, and even reunited in The Clone Wars’ series final to lead the siege of Mandalore. Although he initially turned against the ex-Jedi during Order 66, Ahsoka helped free Rex from his inhibitor chip and restore his individuality. The two then forged their deaths to escape from the newly established Empire. They would later reunite during the events of Star Wars Rebels, the final of which confirmed that both Ahsoka and Rex managed to survive beyond the events of Return of the Jedi.
Ahsoka recently made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian episode “The Jedi”, played by Rosario Dawson. Ahsoka, along with Mando, liberated a city ruled by a ruthless imperial magistrate and defeated the magistrate, demanding that she reveal where Grand Admiral Thrawn was hiding.
