Famous Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho sets another milestone in history as he becomes the first to be named jury president of the ‘2021 Venetian Film Festival‘of South Korea.
According to the official home page of the film festival, director Bong Joon Ho said:The International Film Festival in Venice contains a long and varied history, and I am delighted to be woven into its beautiful film tradition. As president of the jury – and, more importantly, as an eternal film – I am ready to admire and applaud all the wonderful films selected by the festival. Alberto Barbera, artistic director of the Venice Film Festival, announced that director Bong will serve as president of the jury of the film festival by saying: ‘He is one of the most authentic and original voices in the global theater. We are very grateful to him for agreeing to pay attention to his passion as a film, to put us curiously and impartially at the service of our festival. It is a pleasure and an honor to be able to share the joy of this moment with numerous admirers, around the world, of his extraordinary films. ‘
Also considered one of the three major film festivals Cannes Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival, The Venice Film Festival is the only major festival to personally hold the event in September amid the COVID19 outbreak.
