Did Paris Hilton forget that she had already released an NFT?

Briefly

  • Paris Hilton is excited to release an NFT.
  • She may have forgotten about the one she auctioned for 40 ETH last year.

Non-fungible characters, or NFT’s, is becoming popular among a new generation of artists and performers. So much so that some forgotten stars of recent years have started creating and selling their own NFTs.

Paris Hilton, the 40-year-old company and granddaughter of Hilton Hotels founder, took part in a clubhouse session on NFTs and tweeted yesterday she was “excited to release [her] first NFT ”after tech entrepreneur Kim Dotcom encouraged her to do so.

The only problem? She already released her first NFT last year.

In August 2020, the “House of Wax” star auctioned off a drawing of her cat on NFT platform Cryptograph. She donated the proceeds of the 40 ETH auction (then $ 17,000 worth) to Meals on Wheels, the LA Food Bank, and a charity that makes ‘backpack beds’ for the homeless.

Hilton can be forgiven for getting confused. For starters, she’s likely to hire a team of publishers and social media executives to create content for her nearly 17 million Twitter followers.

More so, NFTs were not yet on track to become a household name this month. According to a recently published Dapp Radar report, NFT markets made $ 340 million in trading volume in February – more than in the whole of 2020.

The blockchain-based tokens are essentially digital versions of trading cards or unique works of art. Do you want a unique music video of Grimes? The person who Ether spent $ 388,938 definitely for her “Death of the Old” this week. The piece, which is being sold through auction site Nifty Gateway, is not in anyone’s art gallery, but on the internet. Only the owner can sell it, but everyone can go to the Ethereum blockchain to verify that the owner owns the rights to it.

Is basketball more your jam? NBA TopShot offers digital collectibles such as 3D video highlights that are again packaged in an attractive format. This platform alone accounted for two-thirds of the NFT trading volume in February.

Mainstream publications such as Wiredand Reutersnow covers the trend with equal parts headache curiosity and technological intrigue more than three years later CryptoKitties– funny NFT cats that you can “breed” with other cats, effectively stops all other Ethereum transactions.

Main interest. Now it’s hot.
