ALLEN PARK – Dan Campbell has not even officially accepted the position of head coach of the Detroit Lions, and his new staff is already in focus.
Aaron Glenn will follow Campbell from New Orleans to Detroit and take over as defense coordinator, according to the NFL Network. Glenn is a former first-round pick who has played 15 seasons for the Jets, Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints. He was a three-time Pro Bowler and three times an All-Pro on the corner.
He began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Cleveland Browns in 2014 before taking on the defensive back at the New Orleans Saints in 2016. Campbell also joined those staff in 2016 and is now bringing Glenn with him to Detroit.
That probably means Cory Undlin is unemployed after one season with the Lions. His defense allowed the most yards and points in team history, though it was a mess long before he also arrived here, and injuries also did him no favors.
It remains unclear what will happen to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.
The new general manager, Brad Holmes, is expected to meet with reporters for the first time this afternoon, and Campbell will be announced as head coach after visiting Detroit later in the visit.
