Destruction of AllStars is a colorful, lively derby-style game, and it can be fun to share in chaotic online games like these with friends and opponents. There’s only one problem with the new PlayStation 5 title, and that is that players get a little too much chatter from other players through an unlikely source: their controller.
Currently, the game is set up to put the entire lobby in a chat conversation with all other players. Destruction of AllStars also uses the PlayStation 5 controller as a headset and microphone as the default setting. Players can dampen themselves, but this is not a permanent setting, and every game they have to go through again.
Anyone who spends any time on online games knows why this is a bad idea. Some players are loud or rude, but it’s a little more unpleasant to hear it – at the same time – through the controller. It turns the peripheral device into a nightmare portal that throws a cursed ear into every other player’s living room. No thank you! This is not good at all!
Right now, the best way to avoid this overwhelming experience is to press the PlayStation button while in a lobby. Then scroll to the voice chat activity card and press the square button. This will have to be repeated for each game, but the alternative looks much worse. It’s also a game about a derby, so maybe it’s a conceptual way to bring some uncertainty and chaos into the player’s hands.
