Destiny 2’s ‘Season Of The Chosen’ art and details leak early

Well, thanks to a bad time tweet from Game Informer who accidentally broke a ban, we have our first information about Destiny 2’s upcoming Season of the Chosen, which will be released tomorrow with a trailer and presumably an article from the GI that accompanies it.

As harvested by the data harvesters a while ago, the name of the season is indeed Season of the Chosen, and the first art for the season, along with some information in the quickly removed duo of the Game Informer us the following.

– It’s indeed not just a Cabal, but Caiatl, Calus’ daughter in the background (female Cabal has fangs), and I suppose we can assume she can be our new enemy this season, even if we’re supposed to with at least some faction of the Cabal for the storyline. There has been a concentration by Caiatl this season and some of the earlier teasers that Bungie presented in the most recent TWAB.

– We can clearly see the seasonal emblem on her helmet, which solves the mystery of it, and it turns out to be the symbol of Caiatl’s legion.

The landscape implies that a significant portion of this season will take place on Nessus, which was not visited during the Beyond Light of Season of the Hunt content. I do not know what to make of the ship on the left, except to say that it is certainly not the Nessus aak that is there now. Nowhere a sign of the Leviathan, though there are hints that may return.

Zavala has a central role this season as he appears here, although it is not exactly a surprise as we have seen him consult with the Cabal. There are rumors that Zavala may have been unknowingly corrupted by Savathun, and we know we are still pulling up to her expansion this fall.

– The Game Informer tweet says that not only are old strikes returning, but also new strike also, which is the first we hear of it. Otherwise, the GI tweet does not say much else except that you got the number of the season wrong (it’s 13 not 12) and tells us we’re fighting Cabal.

No one seems to have had access to a live version of the article, so that’s all we know. It’s not exactly a ton, mostly it only confirms a name that has already had rumors and with a character that has been speculated to arrive. I think the biggest piece of new information is about new strikes, but we still do not know the actual storyline, the potential return of Leviathan, the seasonal activity, anything like that. So there is still a lot we will have to dig in as soon as all this information falls completely tomorrow, either by Bungie or by (sigh) Game Informer.

I’m definitely excited to see Caiatl arrive in the game after being teased for a while in history. Tomorrow should be nice, or maybe tonight we will see more leaks at this rate. Who knows.
