Destiny 2The planned expansion of Cosmodrome will not take place, the studio told fans in its weekly blog post on Thursday. Instead, Bungie will focus on new projects.
Last year, Bungie said this Destiny 2The new Season of the Chosen’s new Season will bring back two old strikes from the original Destiny and expands the Cosmodrome location to “approximately Destination 1 Year 1 parity. But when players signed up for the new season on Tuesday morning, they found Old Russia unchanged.
The Devil’s Lair Strike got it back in the game – although currently not available on the map, only available via the Nightfall – but the Fallen SABER Strike was not available, and the Cosmodrome was still the same size as last season . Bungie clarified this The Devil’s Lair will be a normal playlist next week, and that Fallen SABER is currently eliminated due to an error.
But even with the strikes in place, it did not explain the missing parts of the Cosmodrome. Bungie’s promise to expand the destination dates back to June 2020, in its first post outlining the Destiny Content Vault, a new system that allows the studio to cycle content in and out of the game. Two days after the launch of the Season of the Chosen, the studio finally said why the Cosmodrome has not changed.
“When we first shared our plans, we were still early in development and unsure of how far we would go with the Cosmodrome disaster,” Bungie said, referring to the initial June announcement. The studio further stated that it was released in November from the Out of the light as the expansion approached, he had to decide to continue spending time and resources to bring the Cosmodrome back to its original splendor Destiny or move to the development of new content for the future of Destiny 2.
With the return of the strikes and the new player experience, the team decided to move on.
“Because we believed we had achieved our original goals and knew the community and the team’s desire for new content, we chose the latter option,” Bungie said. “But when we made the decision, we could not properly update your expectations for the extent to which the Cosmodrome experience was extended and it was a mistake.”
With the Destiny Content Vault, there’s a chance that Bungie could expand the Cosmodrome somewhere in the future by adding the missing locations or the Plaguelands area – in the original version. Destinysay Rise of Iron expansion – but the studio has no further plans for the location at the moment.
The Cosmodrome was the first place players got their feet wet when Bungie delivered the original launch Destiny in 2014. The studio brought about half of the original map of the location Destiny 2 last fall with Out of the light, and placed a new player dash there to help acclimatize new guardians in the sequel.
