Destiny 2 season 13 brings new trials of Osiris armor, and Bungie started teasing the loot on Friday some images posted to the game’s Twitter account.
Bungie’s weekly blog post on Thursday led players through some new features Destiny 2 in the next season, which begins on February 9th. And now the studio has given the players a look at a refreshment of the loot for Trials of Osiris. This came as a surprise to many, as players did not expect the trial of Osiris’ rewards pool to change until season 14.
Trials of Osiris have resumed Destiny 2 with Season of the Worthy last year, Destiny 2‘s spring season. Bungie originally planned that the current test loot would remain until the spring of 2021, and it was not yet a full year. As a result of Destiny 2: Beyond Light‘s delay, season 13 now falls into the awkward position of being a hybrid winter / spring season; had Out of the light would be launched in time, players would have prepared for season 14 somewhere in March.

This time shift is easy to see when looking at the “sunset” power level for current Trials weapons and armor. Players can only increase the current trial items to the power level 1360, while the current maximum season is 1160. This means that players can continue to use their old test weapons until at least the end of season 13 – and possibly longer, depending on how much the maximum power will increase next season.
We have not seen this kind of overlap with the downfall of the weapon before, as weapons are only supposed to last 12 months with this new system.
As for the loot itself, the images are too dark to definitively identify their origin. But the armor has a sleek look, and it looks like players will be dealing with the Cabal empire again from season 13 onwards. These armor silhouettes match the aesthetics.
It has also not been confirmed that new weapons trials are associated with Osiris weapons. But the current sets of weapons and armor are both expiring at 1360 power, indicating that we will get replacements at the same time.
Players will learn more about Destiny 2 season 13 – and probably get a glimpse of the Osiris booty trials – when Bungie launches the unveiling trailer on February 2nd.
