Design a custom DualSense controller using ColorWare

One of the main criticisms leveled at the launch of the PS5 was over the black-and-white color scheme, and fans want more options for both the console itself and the DualSense controller. ColorWare now offers a complete design suite for the DualSense controller, allowing you to customize the colors on four facets of the controller, as well as custom text on the trackpad.

With ColorWare you can choose independently from different colors on the body (the white part of the DualSense), the middle (the black part), the buttons and the trackpad. The body, center and steering panels can have solid or metallic colors in matte or gloss, while the buttons only have the satin finish options available. You can also get text engraved on the touchpad. ColorWare uses the OEM Sony DualSense controller and customizes it to your specific design with painted shells and components, so you do not buy a third-party controller. You get the original OEM DualSense, according to your design.

However, if you want a personal DualSense controller, you have to pay. Prices start at $ 109 and include the controller and adjustments to the body and waist sections. Customizing the buttons and trackpad adds $ 10 each, while text engraving costs $ 20. You also have to pay delivery and taxes, which can send the cost of this controller to $ 150 fairly quickly. Shipping can take between five and six weeks to reach you.

Note that because ColorWare must remove the controller to paint and customize it, Sony’s manufacturing warranty will be void. However, ColorWare has their own parts and labor warranty for one year. The warranty covers all costs of regular hardware storage within that period.

While ColorWare focuses on custom DualSense controllers, other third parties are trying their hand at custom PS5 console options. One company tried to market custom faceplates for the console, but Sony quickly faced legal pressure. Dbrand also started advertising for sale personalized PS5 faceplates and dared to sue Sony. Others take a different path and customize the full special edition consoles. One set of PS2-themed PS2 consoles goes on sale this week, while another $ 900,000 PS5 will be layered with solid gold and crocodile leather if you have the money.
