Deshaun Watson posts a cryptic tweet after Texans hired Nick Caserio

Houston Texans full-back Deshaun Watson took to Twitter not long after it was reported that his team had agreed to Nick Caserio as the next general manager of the team.

Caserio, currently the Patriots director of player personnel, comes from New England, just like the previous regime in Houston. Former Texas coach and general manager Bill O’Brien, a former Patriots attacking coordinator, managed the Texans with the help of Jack Easterby, a former Patriots character coach. Houston fired O’Brien in October, but retained Easterby.

So Watson may not be happy to see the organization go in a similar direction with Caserio, another branch of Bill Belichick’s coaching and general management tree.

Here’s what Watson wrote on Twitter: ‘some things never change …’

O’Brien traded Watson’s best catcher, DeAndre Hopkins, to the Arizona Cardinals during the 2020 off-season. The move was one of many – including the trading of two first-rounders for Laremy Tunsil for the left-wing approach – that led to O’Brien’s undoing in Houston.

Caserio will be given the task of appointing a head coach for Houston. There is no shortage of excellent options, including Chiefs’ offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Bills’ offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and Patriots’ attacking coordinator Josh McDaniels.
