Deschutes County’s 3,140 70+ COVID vaccine appointments completed in just 2 hours

County receives 3,140 first-dose vaccines; Phase 1a, educators are also eligible

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Oregon Health Authority has granted 3,140 first-dose COVID-19 vaccines to Deschutes County this week, and the country scheduled vaccinations for those 70 and older on Tuesday.

It only took two hours to fill all the appointment slots.

“The appointments for adults 70 and older are now full,” the update said at 11 p.m. “We expect to have information on the doses next week on Friday.”

“When the availability of appointments reopens, we expect to start planning appointments for adults 65 and older,” which will begin this coming Monday across the country.

From 9 a.m. Tuesday, adults 70 years and older could schedule an appointment online or by phone to receive their first dose of vaccine at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center in Redmond.

To plan a vaccination for adults 70 and older:

  • The easiest and fastest way to sign up for an appointment is to schedule online at www.stcharleshealthcare.org/covid-vaccine-scheduling-seniors.
  • If you’re having trouble signing up online, check out this video outlining the online dating registration process.
  • Call 541-699-5109 if you do not have access to a computer or do not have someone to help you sign up for an appointment online. Staff are available seven days a week from 09:00 to 17:00. Be prepared to wait or call back as this line has high call volumes.

Those who qualify as Phase 1a or Phase 1b, Group 1, are asked to submit an attestation form online. Staff will be eligible for individuals to discuss their vaccination.

Federal Retail Pharmacy Program

Some retail pharmacies in Central Oregon offer the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible groups through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 vaccination. Due to the limited supply, there will not be enough vaccines to accommodate all Oregon residents. Appointments can be available through:
