Derek Chauvin wrote the lawyer’s phone number on his hand

FOX 9 hears the black ink on Chauvin’s left hand.

Sources say Derek Chauvin wrote his lawyer’s phone number on his hand before handcuffing and being taken out of court in Hennepin County on Tuesday.

Chauvin was convicted of second-degree murder and Judge Peter Cahill revoked his bail after the verdict was read Tuesday afternoon. He was convicted of all three of the charges he faced.

The ink on his left hand was visible when he was removed from the courtroom. The number was attorney Eric Nelson, who delivered his defense during the trial.

Chauvin was booked Tuesday at 4:55 p.m. in Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights after Hennepin County signed an agreement with the Department of Corrections. He will probably stay there until his sentencing.

Chauvin’s sentencing has not yet been determined, but Cahill said it will take about two months from Tuesday.

For all three charges, he will be sentenced to a maximum of 75 years in prison. Chauvin is 45 years old.
