‘Dennis the Menace’ actress Gloria Henry dies at 98: ‘She’s flying now’

Gloria Henry, who was known as the beloved matriarch Alice Mitchell in the hit sitcom “Dennis the Menace” from the 60s, passed away on Saturday. She was 98.

The star’s daughter and son have confirmed their mother’s death on social media. Henry’s death comes one day after her birthday.

“She’s flying now, free of her body,” Erin Ellwood wrote on Instagram. “She’s leaving on a countdown 4 3 2 1 @ 3:40 p.m.”

“She was such an amazing woman in so many ways,” Ellwood shared. “This last year with her has been beautiful and heartbreaking. Thank you so much for following me and supporting me on this journey – this beautiful landmine. Goodbye Mom, I love your gut forever.”

“It is with great sadness to let all my beloved and wonderful mother lovers know that she passed away peacefully … in her home in Los Angeles,” Adam Ellwood wrote on Facebook, as quoted by Extra.

According to the issue, Adam shared that Henry died through Erin, son Jeff Ellwood, as well as her hospital sister.

“Raise a glass and a toast to our beautiful mother Gloria Henry for a good life,” he wrote.

Henry starred opposite Gene Autry in ‘The Strawberry Room’ in 1948 and ‘Riders in the Sky’ in 1949. She appeared with Lucille Ball and William Holden in ‘Miss Grant Takes Richmond’ in 1949, Nina Foch in ‘Johnny Allegro’ ‘in 1949 and Marlene Dietrich in’ Rancho Notorious’ in 1952.
