Democrats debated whether to lower income levels, but the version voted in committee this week gives full amounts to individuals with an income of up to $ 75,000 and couples with an income of up to $ 150,000. The legislation also extends child tax credit, broadens childcare assistance and strengthens health insurance tax credits.
It will be combined with pieces progressing through other House committees with the goal of getting through the full House later this month. Together, the measures form President Biden’s $ 1.9 billion aid plan, which Democrats are trying to push through Congress.

Other divisions of the emergency relief plan provide $ 130 billion in funding for K-12 schools, $ 40 billion for colleges and universities and $ 39 billion for childcare providers.
