Officially, the Texans’ attitude towards the disgruntled fullback Deshaun Watson is that they like him and do not trade. But this attitude is beginning to soften.
That’s the word of Jim Trotter of NFL Media, who interviewed Texas head coach David Culley for a podcast that will be posted later today. Trotter wrote on Twitter that based on the conversation they had for the podcast, “I firmly believe Deshaun Watson will be traded. ”
Culley did not say that Watson would be traded, but Culley’s word choice indicated that Watson may not be a Texan much longer. Culley referred to Watson who was “now” in the rankings and indicated that the Texans do not want a franchise quarter that does not want to be there, saying, “We want guys who are all in there.”
Watson is one of the best young backs in the NFL, and if the Texans are willing to trade him, they could get a large amount of players and draws. Culley’s comments suggest the team may be coming up with the idea that the way to rebuild is to comply with Watson’s wish and exchange him.
