Dave Chappelle tests positive for Covid-19.

Comedian Dave Chappelle tested positive for Covid-19 and canceled several upcoming shows at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, Texas, a spokesman for The Associated Press said.

The venue’s website showed cancellations for four shows until Tuesday.

Mr. Chappelle, who has been hosting social shows in Ohio since June, with quick testing for audience members and himself, moved his shows to Austin during the winter, the spokesman said.

Mr Chappelle is asymptomatic and under quarantine, she said.

Joe Rogan, a comedian and podcast host who spent Friday and Saturday with Mr. Chappelle would act, apologized for the cancellations. “We will reschedule them as soon as possible,” he said. Rogan said early Friday in an Instagram post.

Mr. Chappelle’s positive test result came about three months after he presented ‘Saturday Night Live’ and commented on the pandemic in a monologue that also touched on the presidential election.

“Do you remember what life was like before Covid?” Mr Chappelle said. “I do. There was a mass shooting every week. Does anyone remember that? Thank the Lord for Covid. Someone had to lock up these murderous whites and keep them in the house.”
