Dave Bautista holds Warner Bros. meeting to demand he play Bane

Dave Bautista has made it clear on social media over the past few years that one of his dream movie roles is the Batman villain Bane, but the wrestling icon who has become the action movie star is not just talking the talk. During an appearance at JusticeCon (via Collider) to promote his lead role in Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead,” Bautista reveals that he had a meeting with Warner Bros. and DC Films arranged to more or less claim the role of Bane when the studios decided. to revive the villainous character on the big screen.

“I so want to play Bane, I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, walked in the door and said, ‘I want to play Bane,'” Bautista said. “I’m not kidding. They were a bit like, ‘Woah, we don’ t even play for Bane. ‘ I was like ‘I do not care, I play him.’ ‘

Bautista may have to wait a while before Warner Bros. decided to bring Bane back to the big screen. The character was famously played by Tom Hardy in Christopher Nolan’s tent peg The Dark Knight Rises of 2012, and it’s a performance that still draws attention years later (see Nolan says last year that critics did not appreciate Hardy’s performance enough). ). Would Warner Bros. Bane be revived with Hardy’s work still lingering in the minds of moviegoers? There was a 15-year gap between Robert Swenson who played Bane in ‘Batman & Robin’ and Hardy who played Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. ‘

Since Warner Bros. and DC Films will soon be embracing the multiverse, it is quite possible that Bautista may sooner or later get his chance to play Bane. The upcoming “Flash” movie will feature two versions of Batman, one played by Michael Keaton and the other by Ben Affleck. There’s also ‘The Batman’ by Robert Pattinson which will be released in March 2022 by director Matt Reeves. The filmmaker brings new iterations of Penguin (Colin Farrell), Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) and Riddler (Paul Dano) to the screen, which definitely leaves a door open for Bane to emerge in the sequel. Bautista certainly hopes so.

Next up for Bautista is ‘Army of the Dead’, Zack Snyder’s Netflix zombie tent pole. The film will be released on the streaming platform on May 22nd.
