Daniel Jeremiah: Jadeveon Clowney’s signing by the Browns ‘will not stop me from taking the lead’

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Daniel Jeremiah, a NFL Network designer, a former Browns scout, would not rule out a 26-year incident for the Browns, even though they signed Jadeveon Clowney.

“I’m excited about Clowney getting there,” Jeremiah said at a video conference Tuesday. ‘His career is, of course, defined by more disruption than the production, but because the history of the injury was just that, his presence will not prevent me from taking an advantage. If you feel you have an edge grid there, you can do so. You can not have too much. ‘

Jeremiah named Joe Tryon of Washington and Greg Rousseau of Miami as two frontrunners in 26th place for the Browns. Both Tryon and Rousseau were ruled out in 2020 after excellent 2019 seasons. Jeremiah noted that Rousseau, who was expected to be in the preparation process in his early teens, could move to the Browns in part due to a sluggish Pro day in Miami.

“Rousseau took up some water after his pro day,” Jeremiah said. “I stick with him. I still believe in him. I really like him. But around the league I think he’s someone who’s going to fall to the back of one and maybe be in the top two. ‘

Rousseau’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, tweeted on Tuesday: “I’ve already told several teams that they will take him when he is there when they pick.”

In the current mockery of Jeremiah, he leaves the Browns the Jain Davis on the no. 26 from Kentucky, a great playmaker who can hit three runs and pass three times last year, returning one for an offense.

“Linebacker-wise they are in a lovely place,” Jeremiah said. “Jamin Davis is one of my favorite players in the concept. Looking at the Tulsa Line Ball [Zaven Collins], he’s probably going to be gone. He gets a little buzz as we get through the process. He reminds me of Anthony Barr, so I think Zaven Collins is probably gone. But [Nick Bolten] of Missouri is worthy of going there, who can really run and is a good player. It’s like some really good options. I do not know that there is a bad one. ‘

If the Browns opt for a receiver in the first round, Jeremiah Rashod Batemen of Minnesota, a projected outside receiver who manages excellent routes, and the Ole Miss’ Elijah Moore, a small, shifting speed star, can see as options.

“Receiver-wise, Terrace Marshall unfortunately (LSU) had medical stuff popping up at the Combine, so I think it could cause him to slip a little bit,” Jeremiah said. ‘I think Rashod Bateman is probably going to be the guy who goes within that series, let alone one early two. Another style of receiver is Elijah Moore, who is undersized, but he’s one of my favorite guys because he can do so many different things. He is exciting. ‘

Jeremiah calls it “the worst defensive group” he has seen since 2003.

Browns’ release of Sheldon Richardson did not register with Jeremiah as a ‘big time’, but he also thinks they will be difficult to find a replacement in this draft. He got just two defensive tackles in his top 75-80 pick in Christian Barmore of Alabama and Levi Onwuzurike of Washington.

‘The challenge lies in this concept, [it’s] so light during defensive attack, ” he said. “That’s what it’s. It’s the worst defensive group I’ve seen since I started in 2003. So it’s been a very thin, thin year. So maybe it was eye-catching. [to release Richardson] just from that point of view, knowing that there are not many reinforcements coming. ”

He considers Barmore a second player, but did not rule him out for the Browns at 26.

“He can sneak in the back of one,” he said. ‘I think more than likely he’s going into the second round. He fits the profile of what second-round guys are, because he’s a bit of a boom-bust player where you have a high high and then some inconsistent lower lows. Some of the things he had to do in Alabama, I do not know if it suits him either.

“To me, he’s more of an upfield guy. Let him use his athletics to attack a lead and move to the field. Asking him to play kind of blocks and hang in there, that’s really not his style, even though he’s a big man at 6-4, 310. To me, he’s a three-pointer who’s a real athletics has to jump into gaps, get to field and go. ‘

He thinks CB Caleb Farley is worth trading the Browns

Jeremiah likes Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech’s cornerback, and believes he’s worth swapping. Farley (6-2, 207) underwent back surgery during the off-season, but expects to be back in time for training camp.

“He had some back procedures,” Jeremiah said. ‘If you’re medically comfortable with him, he was like my fifth or sixth player in the draft. He’s a freak program. I was around Chris McAlister (1999’s first round pick of the Ravens, three-time Pro Bowler). This is who he reminded me of, so he’s a great time, a great time talent. It comes down to your doctors and what their comfort with him is physically. If they give you the right and he succeeds, shoot it, it will be a choice if he shows up and he is healthy. ‘

He said if the Browns are comfortable with the medicine, it would make sense to climb up to get him. Jeremiah has him ranked number 17 on his top 50 big plate.

“He has scarce movement skills for such a large angle,” Jeremiah said. ‘The timing therefore [of the surgery] does not help. But if you are the browns and your medical staff has done their job and you are giving the clean health care, and there is no long term risk, and they are giving you the thumbs up, he is absolutely someone you are up for. Yes, again, I think he is the most talented corner in the whole concept. This is one of the decisions that will not be made by general managers, but by your doctor. ‘
