Daniel Bryan vs. Jey Uso Steel Cage Match for WWE SmackDown

Daniel Bryan gets another chance to earn a Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns.

In this week’s episode of Talking Smack, it was announced that Bryan Jey will face Uso in a steel cage match at SmackDown next Friday. If Bryan wins, he will challenge for Reigns’ Universal Championship at Fastlane. If Uso wins, Bryan Reigns must be recognized as the tribal chief, the head of the table, the best wrestler on the planet, the undisputed universal champion and the main event of WrestleMania.

Paul Heyman said on Talking Smack that he was authorized by Reigns to host Bryan for another game against Uso. Bryan agreed, but wanted it to be a steel cage match. Bryan said that if he lost to Uso, he would shake Reigns’ hand and recognize Reigns as the best wrestler he has ever been in the ring with. Reigns agreed to make Bryan a steel cage match against Uso.

Last night’s SmackDown was the head of Bryan vs. Uso. Bryan would have gotten a chance at Reigns’ Universal Championship if he had won, but the game ended in a double countdown. Reigns attacked Bryan as Bryan had Uso in the Yes Lock after the game. Bryan put Reigns in the Yes Lock, but Uso gave Bryan a superkick. Reigns then strikes a spear at Bryan and places him in a guillotine.

Bryan won SmackDown’s Elimination Chamber match in Elimination Chamber last Sunday, but then had to immediately challenge for Reigns’ Universal Championship. Reigns breaks out of the Yes Lock and quickly defeats Bryan with a guillotine.

It was said on SmackDown yesterday that the original preliminary plans for Fastlane were the Royal Rumble winner Edge of Bryan and men against Reigns & Uso. Edge does not look happy with Bryan possibly getting a title shot before Edge challenges for the Universal Championship on WrestleMania 37.

There was a backstage segment on SmackDown last night, where Bryan said his chances of beating Reigns are better than those of Edge. Bryan said he – with Edge’s rust rust and how much time he took off – did not know if Edge had what it took to defeat Reigns.

Fastlane takes place on Sunday 21 March. This is WWE’s last pay-per-view ahead of WrestleMania 37.
