Dangerous side effects of eating fried foods, according to science

Fried food is delicious – there are no aspects, and or answers to it. However, eating too much can ruin your overall health.

While indulging in fried mozzarella sticks and funnel cakes from time to time, it will not necessarily affect your health, but if you consume fried foods regularly, it can cause adverse complications. In light of recent research on fried foods and heart health risks, we have decided to outline five side effects you may experience if you eat this type of food too often.

According to new research published in the journal Heart, fried food intake is strongly associated with an increased risk of serious cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke. Researchers pooled data from 17 different studies, involving more than 560,000 participants and more than 36,700 major cardiovascular events to determine the risk of cardiovascular disease.

What did they find? Compared to those who ate the least amount of fried food each week who ate the highest amount had an increased risk of stroke and heart attack by 28%.

The same composite analysis also revealed that participants who ate the most fried foods were associated with a 22% increased risk of coronary heart disease.

“When food is fried, it becomes denser, because the outer part of the food loses water and absorbs the fat. [or] oil, “she said. The oils in which foods are fried can contain trans fat, which appears to increase your LDL. “

LDL, which stands for low-density lipoprotein, is known as the harmful type of cholesterol. High cholesterol can build up in the veins of your arteries and cause a form of heart disease known as atherosclerosis.

The third major takeaway from the research published in the journal Heart was that participants who ate the most fried foods, a 37% increased risk of heart failure compared to the group that ate the least amount. Heart failure is described by the American Heart Association as a chronic, progressive condition in which the heart muscle cannot pump as much blood as it should.

The analysis also indicated that with every extra 114 grams – or 1/2 cup (4 ounces) – serving of fried food consumed per week, the risk increases by 12% extra.

Although this side effect may not necessarily be dangerous in itself, weight gain directly affects body fat, and studies show that chronic diseases can be due to increased BMI. Although a little weight gain does not cause much concern, constant weight gain due to lifestyle changes can be a source of concern over time.

A 2014 study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that regular consumption of fried foods is significantly associated with the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health found similar outcomes after examining data from more than 100,000 men and women over more than 25 years.

They discovered that participants who ate fried foods in between had an increased risk of type 2 diabetes four and six times a week, compared to those who ate it less than once a week. Even more eloquent? Participants who ate the good seven or more times a week had an increased 55% risk of developing the condition.
