D’Angelo has been announced as the next Verzuz guest, though he does not yet have a single opponent. Instead, he will perform live from Harlem’s historic Apollo Theater with a variety of unannounced friends. It happens on Saturday 27 February at 20:00 Eastern, broadcast on Instagram.
Verzuz is now in its second season after launch last spring. Recent fights have put the hits of Gucci Mane and Jeezy, Brandy and Monica, and E-40 and Too $ hort against each other. More recently, Ashanti and Keyshia Cole had to reschedule their episode twice due to COVID-19 concerns. The other notable guests of the program included icons such as Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight. D’Angelo’s latest album is 2014’s Black Messiah, although he performed with Erykah Badu last year on the song “Behoove” by producer Slingbaum.
