Dane County issues new convention order

MADISON (WKOW) – Madison & Dane County Public Health issued Emergency Order # 12 on Monday.

The order takes effect on January 13 at 12:01 pm and is valid until February 10. The previous order would expire on that date.

The order maintains many parts of Order 11 and leaves together within 10 gatherings, with physical distance and face coverings.

However, the new order increases the limit on outdoor gatherings to 50 people instead of 25.

“The number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 remains very high and new, more contagious virus variants are circulating around the world and the United States,” said Janel Heinrich, director of PHMDC, in a release. “We know we spending time with others is less risky than spending time together, which is why we have increased the collection of boundaries outside the country in recognition of this research. We ask that everyone limit the gathering indoors for the health and safety of the community. ‘

When PHMDC on December 16 ordered no. 11 issued, the seven-day average was 171 and 135 people were admitted to hospital with COVID-19. As of Monday, the seven days average are 213 and there are 71 people hospitalized with COVID-19. In December, 79 Dane County residents died of COVID-19.

“Although we still have a high burden, Dane County is doing better than the state in both people diagnosed with COVID-19 and dying of COVID-19,” said Joe Parisi, executive director of Dane County. “It shows the success of our commands in preventing disease and saving lives. ‘
